Reduce Your Stress | Increase Engagement

There are fewer time and place boundaries separating work from the other parts of life. You need to take control and flexibly manage your work+life fit to reduce stress and increase your engagement, on and off the job.

We live in a 24/7, always on, global economy of constantly competing work and personal demands.

The traditional boundaries between work and life that the clock and office walls used to provide are almost gone. Nothing replaced them.

No one told us how to turn off and how to focus on the actions and priorities that allow us to bring the best of ourselves to the table every day, personally and professionally. Until now.

According to the Towers Watson’s 2012 Global Workforce Study, highly engaged employees (35% of the global workforce) are much more likely to say they have the work flexibility they need (78% versus 52% for the general population).

In other words, to manage stress and sustain engagement, it’s not enough to have any type of work flexibility. It has to be the telework, flexible hours, compressed workweek or reduced schedule that you need. And it will depend on your unique work+life fit reality.

You are the only one who knows what will work for you and your job.

Start by taking the small actions that contribute to your health and well-being like going to the gym, turning off your smartphone, having a cup of coffee with a friend, or meditating for 20 minutes.

Over time, you will create a foundation of well-being and order out of the everyday chaos
