For nearly two decades, the Flex+Strategy Group/Work+Life Fit, Inc. (FSG/WLF) and founder, Cali Williams Yost, called "one of the smartest" and "sophisticated thinkers" by The New York Times, have shaped the global dialogue on work+life flexibility.
Strategic work+life flexibility for profit, growth and work+life "fit" (not, balance)
Since 1995, companies have hired us to increase profits and growth by making strategic work+life flexibility part of their culture and day-to-day operating model. Individuals have looked to us to help them optimize their work+life fit daily and at major career and life transitions. FSG/WLF makes flexibility real.
And, even though we are committed to helping everyone optimize the fit between work and life, we were honored in June, 2010 when Forbes named the Work+Life Fit blog one of the "Top 100 Websites for Women."
Broad impacts on personal and business success
We believe that strategic flexibility in how, when and where work is done and life is managed is an imperative if businesses, leaders and individuals are to tackle today's opportunities and challenges.
Pursuing this vision with relentless passion, we've served as evangelists for the broad impacts of work+life flexibility on organizational and personal success in a rapidly changing global economy. Our diverse clients range from BDO, LLP and Pepsico, to The United Nations, Ernst & Young, the U.S. Navy and Microsoft.
Extensive real-world, business know-how
A former banker and honors graduate of Columbia Business School, Cali Williams Yost first became aware of the power of strategic work+life flexibility in the early 90's as the manager of a commercial lending group in New York City.
Since joining the work+life field after receivng her MBA, Yost and the FSG/WLF strategy team have applied their extensive, real-world, business know-how to drive change. Yost has also held senior consultant and research positions with Families and Work Institute and Bright Horizon Famliy Solutions, two of the field's pioneering organizations.
Always on the leading edge, FSG/WLF is widely credited with:
- The increasingly broad adoption of work+life "fit" as the term-of-choice to replace outdated, limiting "balance."
- Using Cali Williams Yost's critically-acclaimed book, Work+Life: Finding the Fit That's Right for You (Riverhead, 2004), to provide individuals with the first "how to" guide for flexibly optimizing their work+life fit in a way that meets their needs and the needs of the business.
- In 2006, starting the first blog dedicated to discussing work+life flexibility from the perspectives of business, individuals, public policy and the broad culture, and in 2007, starting an expert blog on the topic for Fast Company.
- In 2008, conducting the first national study of the top 100 CFOs and their perceptions and understanding of strategic work+life flexibility.
